2011 Sponsor List
The Utah Barrel Racing Assoc. is
a non-profit barrel racing club that was established in 1959. We offer divisional classes
as well as a 4D (1/2 sec. splits) and pole bending. We offer a place for every level of
barrel racer from Pro to the rider who has not won more that $500. We are proud of our
high quality year end awards, good ground, tuff competition and the great friendship
between members and non-members alike.
2011 membership fee is $50. The Summer Season runs
March through September with jackpots at South Jordan, West Jordan, Tooele, Herriman,
Farmington and Heber (to name a few). Year end awards for The Summer Season are
based on a points system and determined on an average of jackpot entries per class up to
10 places. A saddle is given to each year-end high point earner in Poles, Open Barrels,
Novice, Amateur, $3000 & 4D. Year end awards for 4D are also based on points. Novice,
Limited Rider, Amateur and $3000 forms must be submitted each year with Membership dues
and application. Non-members can run in Open Poles, Open Barrels and 4D. All
members are required to get a $20 sponsor. Sponsor money and ads are due April 1st.
We also hold a 4D Winter Series which runs November
through Jan. with series end awards. Membership not required.

Rule Changes and
Items of interest
Every UBRA member will be required to
sell a $20 ad to be listed in our April 5D & Futurity program. See our 2011 Sponsor Form for complete
ad descriptions. Sponsor money and ads are due 4/1/11 and membership will be
suspended unless received.
Champion saddles will be awarded in
each class and each 4D division. We will again hold week-night jackpots this summer
season to free up some weekends and get out of the mid-day heat.
Everyone will be asked to stop what
they are doing and come to the announcer area while the running order and rakers are
announced at jackpots (like we used to do).
2011 Rule Changes:
PLEASE CIRCLE POLES or BARRELS ONLY ONCE WHEN RUNNING IN CLASSES
& 4D
Members may pre-enter online at utbra.com up until the night
before a race by 6 p.m. If a member pre-enters and does not show up to the jackpot, member
is still responsible to pay the entry fee.
Board of director positions will be assigned and voted on by the
current Board of Directors. The following board positions will be appointed annually:
President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.
A knocked over Pole or Barrel in any Class & 4D is a no time
and will not be awarded points or money.
Amateur nomination form must be submitted for the 1st
year horse prior to that horse competing in UBRA Amateur Barrel Racing class. Horses may not have ran prior to November 1st
the previous year.
Failure to comply with the rake rule
will result in a $10.00 penalty. This will be enforced.
If you cannot rake please find someone to rake for you.
All returned checks will be charged $20 for the 1st
offense; $20 2nd offense and will be required to pay by cash for one year from
the date the debt is paid. If debt is not paid within 10 days of first notification,
offenders name will go on the ineligible list posted on our website and will be suspended
from all UBRA functions.
The start and finish line will be one and the same line. Time shall
begin as horse and rider cross the timer line and shall stop as the horse and rider cross
the timer line after completing the pattern. The time line extends wall to wall where the
timers are placed, if a horse or rider is in forward motion and crosses the line at any
point beyond the timer line will result in a disqualification or no time.
Remember:
All correspondence will be by email.
Please make sure the UBRA Secretary has your
current email address.
Every member is required to run in
their class. Running out of order or in another class will no longer be allowed. If you
enter late you can run 6th out on the ground in your class only - no exceptions.

Pole points are awarded on the horse.
T/O poles will be run 1/2 hour before
the jackpot starts.
It takes a collective effort of
b.o.d.'s and members to produce jackpots ~ we will be calling upon everyone for
help.
If a rider runs out of turn or before
their name is called it will result in the rider being disqualified.
- Everyone will be required to clear the arena when
asked and everyone will be required to start their run from outside of the gate.
- Failure to comply with the rake rule will result in a
$10 fine - this will be enforced. You will have the
option to rake for the class after your class or the 2nd class after your class.
Please note all grievances need to be submitted
to the board in writing and signed as stated in the rule book.
All members will be asked to help run at least one
(1) jackpot this summer, including the April Futurity, 5D and September 5D which are fund
raiser for the UBRA. Please make an
effort to support our area reps during jackpots ~ putting on a UBRA jackpot is a huge task
and requires the help of many people in order to run smoothly.
