2024 Membership is open. Membership is submitted electronically through SaddleBook including membership & sponsorship dues. When you enter a UBRA summer series race you will have the option to join and earn year end points for awards. Non-members can run in Open Poles, Open 1D (one time) and the 4D (run or c/o, multiple horses).
Sponsorship
We cannot do what we do without our generous sponsors. We hold over 40 races each year with 2 large events in Heber City where we average 400 entries. Sponsors receive exposure through our FaceBook page, website and at events. Please see sponsorship for more information.

Clarifications:
The Utah Barrel Racing Assoc. is a non-profit barrel racing club that was established in 1959. We offer divisional classes as well as a 4D (1/2 sec. splits) and pole bending. We offer a place for every level of barrel racer from Pro to the rider who has not won more that $500. We are proud of our high quality year end awards, good ground, tough competition and the great friendship between members and non-members alike.
Membership fee $60, Family Membership $100 (household members under 18 yrs.
Sponsorship dues $40 - due April 1st.
Sponsorship Incentive: $200 or more earns free membership, $500 or more earns free membership and one Open 5D entry Sat & Sun at our April or September Heber race.
Non-members can run in Poles, Open 1D (one time) and 4D with $5 non-member fee.
The Summer Season runs Late February through October with jackpots at The USU Bastian Ag Center, South Jordan UT.
Year end awards for The Summer Season are based on a points system and determined on an average of jackpot entries per class up to 10 places. A saddle is given to each year-end high point earner in Poles, Open Barrels, Non-Pro, Amateur, $4000 & 4D.
We also hold an open 4D Winter Series with 3D Youth: November through Feb. Membership not required to run at winter series.

Non-members can run in Poles, Open 1D (one time) and Open 4D (multiple horses)

Open Poles Entry Fee $20, member or non member can run in this class, you can run more than one horse. Year end points will be accumulated on the horse.

Youth 3D. Entry Fee $15, for the member who is 14 and under as of Jan 1 of the current year. Times can be carried over to Non-pro, Limited, $4000 and 4D.

Open 1D Barrels Entry Fee $25, Member or non-member can run in the Open 1D one time per jackpot. Member who runs in the open will never again be eligible to run in the non-pro class.

Non-pro Rider Entry Fee $20, class is for the member who does not train horses for remuneration, monetary or otherwise, has not won more than $3000 lifetime in rodeo earnings and never before held a WPRA card. Non-pro form must be submitted with membership if requested by BOD.

Limited Rider Entry fee $20. This class was created to encourage new riders and new membership. The Limited Rider class is for the member who has not won more than $500 lifetime barrel racing. Times can be carried over to $4000, Youth 3D & Open 4D. Limited Rider form must be submitted with membership if requested by BOD.

Amateur Horse Entry Fee $20, class is for the member who has a 1st year horse that has never before won prizes or money in a barrel race, or a 2nd year horse that has not won over $5000 total barrel racing in the prior year. Amateur form must be turned in with membership if requested by the BOD.

$4000 Horse Entry fee $20, class is for the member whose horse has not won over $4000 in it's lifetime. $4000 Horse form must be turned in with membership if requested by the BOD.

4D (1/2 second splits). Entry Fee $25, the 4D runs last, member or non member can run and you can carry over times from the other classes.

2021 No Membership Meeting Held. One addition to the rule book: Item 12; Entry fee must be paid to be included in the pre-entry draw. Entry fee must be paid before running.
2022 No Membership Meeting Held. Membership dues increased from $50 to $60, sponsor dues increased from $35 to $40. Limited rider entry fee increased to $18. Barrel setters will be hired to set barrels for classes. $5 per rider per jackpot insurance / barrel setter fee.

Terms and Conditions:
The above named individual [hereinafter referred to as the “Applicant”] represents and warrants that the foregoing information is true and correct, and hereby makes application for membership in the Utah Barrel Racing Association (UBRA), a Utah Non-Profit corporation. In consideration for issuance of said membership, Applicant hereby agrees to abide by the Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws, and rules and regulations adopted and promulgated by the UBRA.
As a member, Applicant will be granted entrance to certain restricted areas at events organized and/or sponsored by the UBRA (i.e. those areas to which admission by general public and spectators is prohibited). Applicant may also be permitted to compete, officiate, observe, work for, or participate in said events. In consideration of being issued membership in the UBRA, Applicant agrees that before entering any restricted area or participating in any event, he or she will inspect the restricted area or areas and all portions thereof which he or she enters. Applicant further agrees that his or her entry into a restricted area or areas and his or her participation, if any, in the event constitutes an acknowledgment that he or she has inspected such restricted area and that he or she finds and accepts the same to be safe and reasonably suited for the purposes of his or her use, and he or she further agrees and warrants that if, at any time, he or she feels anything to be unsafe, he or she will immediately leave the restricted area(s) and notify the UBRA of the perceived safety hazard.
Applicant hereby accepts and assumes responsibility for the risk of bodily injury, death or property damage inherent in the events organized or sponsored by the UBRA. Applicant assumes said responsibility even if said risks are created by the negligence of UBRA.
DISCLAIMER
By signing and submitting this application, I agree that I am aware of and will abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Utah Barrel Racing Association. In addition and notwithstanding the foregoing, I hereby waive any and all claims which may arise between myself and the UBRA or between myself and third parties (i.e. Davis County, Salt Lake County, Weber County, Tooele County, Utah County, Herriman City, Wasatch County, West Jordan City, Bluffdale City, the Board of Directors and the agents, members, servants and employees) as a direct or indirect result of my participation in any UBRA event. Should anyone or any legal entity bring such a claim, I agree to indemnify and pay the reasonable costs and attorney’s fees associated with defending the UBRA. My waiver does not include any claim I may have against the UBRA for monies won as a result of my competitive performance at a UBRA event.
Applicant further agrees that the foregoing release, waiver and indemnity agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by law and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall continue in full legal force and effect.
This Agreement embodies the entire agreement between UBRA and the Applicant. No verbal agreements or conversations with any agent of the UBRA prior to execution of this Agreement shall affect or modify any of the terms or obligations contained in any documents comprising this Agreement.
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah. The forum for resolution of any disputes arising under this Agreement shall be the Third District Court of the State of Utah.
In the event Applicant institutes litigation to enforce his or her rights under this Agreement, the prevailing party in such litigation shall be entitled to an award of its reasonable attorney’s fees and costs.
EQUINE ACTIVITIES LAW
By signing and submitting this application, I agree that I have been informed of the Utah Equine Activities Law (U.C.A. 78B-4-201 et seq.) and that there are certain risks inherent to my participation in an equine or livestock activity. I acknowledged that those inherent risks include dangers or conditions which are an integral part of equine or livestock activities, and may include the following: (a) the propensity of the animal to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm, or death to persons on or around them; (b) the unpredictability of the animal's reaction to outside stimulation such as sounds, sudden movement, and unfamiliar objects, persons, or other animals; (c) collisions with other animals or objects; or (d) the potential of a participant to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as failing to maintain control over the animal or not acting within his or her ability. Furthermore, I acknowledge that I am a Participant in an equine or livestock activity as defined by Utah Code Ann.78B-4-201 and that my status as a participant will continue through the duration of the entire event (i.e. even subsequent to my competitive turn).
